After Being Ticketed 60 Times — 16 in School Safety Zones — Council Member Brannan Swaps Out License Plate. Why?
Brooklyn, NY, Oct. 21…After being stung by a New York Post expose showing that he has been cited for 60 motor vehicle violations over the past eight years — 16 of them for speeding in school safety zones — Council Member Justin Brannan (D-43rd) has a new tactic to avoid detection: changing out his license plate number in an apparent effort to avoid additional media scrutiny.
It didn’t work. Mr. Brannan received ticket #61 recently for his new license plate not matching his vehicle registration (image above.)
“I’m not sure who Mr. Brannan thinks he’s fooling with the new license plate number,” said businessman and City Council candidate Brian Fox, “it’s the car that gets ticketed, not the plate, and Mr. Brannan just keeps getting ticketed. The arrogance he demonstrates is breathtaking. Here’s an elected official constantly lecturing constituents about driving safely while continually breaking the law himself. His driving is a menace to our communities.”
Mr. Fox called on the City Council to sanction Mr. Brannan this summer for speeding in school safety zones 16 times, but the Council ignored the request.
